From Board to Ward, IHF works with a variety of healthcare trusts and boards across the UK. We have consult and train for a variety of concerns including patient journey mapping, ward lay-out and optimisation, fatigue management and communication, as well as conducting Human Factors awareness training for staff at all levels.
HF integration can help with a great many things in a modern hospital setting. Implementing a holistic HF strategy in a hospital or other healthcare environment can improve staff morale, help save money by avoiding duplication, improve patient care as well as reducing potentially costly errors.
Some examples of our work include:
Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust : Development and delivery of a Human Factors Integration Plan (HFIP) for a new state-of-the-art Urgent and Emergency Care Centre (UECC) at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton. Detailed process mapping, including process flow, ergonomics, metrics, leadership and roles and responsibilities were critical to eliminating initial teething problems with this facility.
Milton Keynes University Hospital Trust: Delivery of HF Awareness Training (HFAT) and HF Train the Trainer (TtT) training to support and improve patient safety, with a specific focus on the Women and Childrens’ Clinical Service Units (CSUs).
IHF designs, develops and delivers highly experiential and interactive training for organisations of all sizes within the Oil & Gas sector. These courses include:
- Clinical Human Factors
- NOTECHS and CRM
- Train the Trainer
Document Design & Use
IHF is highly skilled at Gap Analysis, development and production, and re-design and reformatting of documents in isolation or as part of a wider HF intervention.
IHF are industry experts on Fatigue Risk Management (FRM) – audit, re-design, implementation and review.
Workload & Staffing Levels
Task Analysis and Time Line Analysis, and measuring the impact of Performance Influencing Factors (PIFs) are some of the techniques IHF have used to improve safety and business performance as a result of improving inefficient workload and staffing levels.
IHF can conduct evaluation of communication, decision-making, awareness, workload and Team Performance Analysis within the framework of the SHELL model.
